Established in 1986, although it looks much older, this amazing café means that Amsterdam beer lovers are spoilt for choice. The building was originally a Jenever distiller's tasting room and the conversion to a bar using an old cheeseshop counter looks like it's existed forever. Although the permanent beer range is large there are often small batches of interesting beer available so ask the staff. You'll often find a barrel of something rare from Germany on the end of the bar on Fridays.
